The final race of the Fresno Cyclocross Series also served as the A.B.R. Cross Championship for 2007. Scott/Ritchey/Sram Team rider Keith DeFiebre wrapped up the overall for the Fresno Series of races for the 3rd straight season. DeFiebre also found himself fighting for the race win handle bar to handle bar, literally, with current UCI World 4X Champion and UCI World Cup 4X Champion Brian Lopes.

With only three turns to go in the race DeFiebre maneuvered his Scott Team Edition Cyclocross bike into the lead, only to catch a pedal on the exit of the turn and slide out. Lopes took full advantage of this slip up, and seized the lead as the two racers sprinted for the line thru the last two turns. In the end it was Brain Lopes who took the win, but it made for some exciting racing and good action for all.

Jesse Mayberry- Scott/Ritchey/Sram Team MVP

Jesse Mayberry has been awarded MVP for the Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cyclocross Team for the 2007-08 season by his peers. Mayberry earned this honor for his stellar riding in the extremely competitive Elite division throughout the Cross season. However, to win the MVP award it takes more then just excellent results and outstanding riding. Mayberry was the driving force behind the scenes that developed the Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cross Team from it's infancy to being one the most respected group of Cross racers in Nor-Cal. Mayberry's unique ability to combine his insight, vision, and forward thinking, created a environment for the racers of cohesion and effectiveness. Each rider selected by Mayberry to represent Scott, Ritchey, and Sram, fed off his positive approach and their results reflected this. Mayberry then found himself personally at the front of the Elite division at Northern California's most prestigious Cross series, the Bay Area Super Prestige Series. Race after race Mayberry delivered strong finishes which motivated the rest of the team, and gave team riders fuel for their own personal fire to attain equally strong results. This outstanding success in the Super Prestige Series was one of the biggest highlights for the Scott/Ritchey/Sram Team for 2007-08. Excellent results combined with large amounts of team organization, development, and sponsor related work, made the choice unanimous and earned Jesse Mayberry MVP honors for the 2007-08 Cross season.

Keith DeFiebre- Ultimate Fighter

Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cross Team rider Keith DeFiebre was forced to throw down some serious fighting spirit aboard his Scott Team Edition Cross bike during the 2007 edition of the Central Coast Cyclocross Series. DeFiebre suffered thru two bad series races early in the season. The sub par results seemed to knock him out of any potential high placing in the end of year overall ranking. But DeFiebre fought back and delivered five races where the end result secured enough CCCX Series points to vault himself into 2nd overall in the Masters "A" division Central Coast Series final rankings. Even a first lap crash in the all crucial CCCX Series final double points event could not hold the hard charging Defiebre back. Positive thinking, a strong fight to succeed aboard his Scott Team Edition Cross bike, and the worlds best cycling products from Ritchey, Sram, & Scott, were the key to DeFiebre's outstanding series ranking.

Klasna's Racing Progression~

Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cyclocross Team rider Cody Klasna's racing skills and strategy keep progressing forward. Racing his Scott Team Edition Cyclocross bike, Klasna found himself in a shootout with two other competitors for the final award position at this past weekends CCCX final. It all came down to the last set of boards and a 75 yard sprint for the finish line. On the line Klasna was inches away from a 5th place finsih and the final CCCX medal. This extremely tight racing and mad dash experience will only make Klasna more strategically savvy when the racing is close in the final push for the finish line.

Hanni Continues Comeback~

This past weekend Nick Hanni continued his dramatic comeback from injury to the Elite division of Northern California's Cyclocross scene aboard his Scott Team Edition Cyclocross machine. Hanni used the CCCX Series in Monterey Ca. to test himself and his equipment, and prove to all he is back in racing form. The Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cyclcross Team is proud to have a rider such as Nick Hanni, who's commitment, determination, and desire to compete is a huge asset to the race team.

Tim Granshaw- Smooth As Silk

Granshaw has the most established Road Racing background of the Scott/Ritchey/Sram Team riders. This is clearly visible whenever the smooth riding Granshaw has a go in Cyclocross. The Redwood City Ca. based rider is one of Northern California's classiest riders in the heat of the racing action and a strong team player for the Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cyclocross squad.

Mayberry & DeFiebre Log Wins To Close Out 2007

Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cross Team riders Jesse Mayberry and Keith DeFiebre both closed out 2007 on a high note taking 1st place finishes aboard their Scott Team Edition Cyclocross Bikes.

Mayberry, who has shown consistent form the entire 2007 cross campaign, rode to the Elite Men's win at the East Bay Cyclocross race held in Livermore Ca.

DeFiebre has posted solid rides in the last two Central Coast Series races in the Master "A" division with finishes of 3rd and 2nd place. Victory then came in Fresno Ca. when Defiebre took first in his division at the 4th annual "Lou" Night Cyclcoross race. Then on Dec. 23 DeFiebre was the overall winner of the Fresno Series "Santa Race". DeFiebre used a last lap escape from his breakaway companion to win the Christmas event by 5 seconds on the line.

Next stop for the Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cyclocross Team is the CCCX Series final event held in Monterey Ca. on Jan 6, 2008.

A winter storm warning is in effect on competition day, and the racing should be epic for all team riders.

Cody Klasna- Most Improved

The most improved rider for the Scott/Ritchey Cyclocross Team for 2007 is Cody Klasna. Recruited by Team leader Jesse Mayberry for his strength and endurance, Klasna jumped directly into the deep end of Northern California's competitive racing scene. After developing his own personal style and skill in the fine art of Cyclocross racing Klasna's results began to improve. The past two races Klasna has ripped off two strong 3rd place finishes and is now starting to taste the thrill of victory in his group. Moving so close to a win, so quickly this Cyclocross season shows why the Scott/Ritchey Cross Team has awarded Cody Klasna with most improved honors.

Nick Hanni- Most Inspirational

Scott/Ritchey Cyclocross Team rider Nick Hanni has been the most inspirational rider for 2007. The Scott/Ritchey/SRAM sponsored racer suffered a serious cut to the knee during a muddy race in the middle of the Cross season. Most riders would have thrown in the towel after this tremendously deep cut which covered the entire width of his knee. The gash was so deep and long that it required multiple stitches and unwanted down time during the middle of Northern California's busy Cross season. Yet Hanni simply became more motivated to get back on the bike, and his recovery and fighting spirit earn him most inspirational honors among Team riders. Hanni's dedication and drive to compete is very motivating to all around him, and the Scott/Ritchey Cross Team commends Nick Hanni on his fast recovery and return to racing.

December To Remember~

The Scott/Ritchey Cyclocross Team found their form during December. Team riders delivered solid rides in races all over Northern California. As the season progressed the Team members integrated into a strong comfort mode and confidence level with the Scott Team Cyclocross Bikes, as well as the Ritchey and SRAM components. This was demonstrated by excellent performances by the Team riders at many different events.

The Central Coast Series race this weekend leads the Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cyclocross Team into the tail end of the Cross racing season. All team riders agree the Scott Team Cyclocross bikes have been spectacular during the year. The Ritchey Cyclocross tires, wheels, handlebars, stems, and seat posts have worked perfectly. The SRAM components have been awesome under the stress of racing and difficult Cyclocross conditions.

Together, Scott/Ritchey/Sram are a perfect match for competition cycling.

Bay Area Super Prestige Series Final 12/09/07

Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cyclocross Team rider Jesse Mayberry posted a stellar five race campaign in the Elite division of the Bay Area Super Prestige Series. In the series final the smooth riding Mayberry was on form and riding strong. Only a freak mechanical issue could derail his move forward in the General Classification. When the mud dried Mayberry still managed an outstanding 7th overall ranking in Nor-Cal's largest Cyclocross series.

Team riders Nate Shaw, Tim Granshaw, Cody Klasna, and Nick Hanni all showed well in the series final.

The B.A.S.P. is a very important event for the Scott/Ritchey/Sram Team, and it was Jesse Mayberry who rose to the occasion during the 2007 edition.

CCCX SUCCESS

The Central Coast Cyclocross race was a solid success for the Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cross Team. Nate Shaw opened up the affairs with his break through ride into the top 10. Next was Cody Klasna, who would have made U.S. Champion Trent Klasna proud with his strong performance on the tricky and Euro-Style course. Klasna's high placing achieved one of his year long goals, showing huge improvement during his 2007 Cross campaign. Keith DeFiebre then delivered a inspiring top 3 ride in the Master "A" division. This was followed by a equally inspiring ride from Jesse Mayberry. Mayberry made the Elite Men's race winning four rider break, taking 3rd overall at the line capping off a tremendous day of racing for the Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cycloross Team.

Also inspiring was Nick Hanni, who made a outstanding return to action from a serious crash a few weeks earlier.

For the Scott/Ritchey Cyclocross Team the Central Coast Cyclocross Series event will take place this coming weekend at Ft Ord, near Monterey. Then the following weekend will be the District Championships on Saturday, and the final of the B.A.S.P Series on Sunday in the Bay Area. It is be a busy schedule on the horizon. This means more serious fun and business on the Scott Team Cyclocross Bicycles in the future.

NCNCA CUP #4 at Manzanita Park

Nate Shaw posted the top finish for the Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cyclocross Team at the NCNCA CUP #4 hosted by CCCX at Manzanita Park near Monterey.

Shaw moved constantly forward among his division throughout the race. It was great to witness Shaw pass so many riders on his way to a fine finish. It appears Shaw is really finding his form for the later part of the Cyclocross season.

The course was full of mud bogs, water traps, wet grass sections, and prime packed sand turns from recent rains. It was a true challenge for the Scott/Ritchey Team riders and their Cyclocross racing equipment.

The entire Scott/Ritchey Team hopes for a speedy recovery to Nick Hanni. The hard charging Hanni took a routine slip during a turn in some slick mud that produced a incredibly deep slice to his knee and required stitches to mend. Hanni is tuff as nails, and is sure to be back in the saddle as soon as possible.

BAY AREA SUPER PRESTIGE SERIES- RACE #3

The Scott/Ritchey/Sram Cyclocross Team were faced with a demanding course that put riders and bikes thru a array of challenges at the B.A.S.P. #3.

There was a brutal run-up which riders attacked each lap, that fully tested fitness and strength. There were high speed dismounts mixed in with technical turns and off camber sections that brought out the best in rider and bicycle. The competiton of the large groups of racers in each division made for one tuff race.

When the day was done,

the Team Scott/Ritchey/Sram equipment was piloted to a strong top 10 placing in the Men's Elite Division thanks to Jesse Mayberry. While, Nick Hanni and Tim Granshaw both battled hard, riding their Cyclocross bikes to the limit.

The Scott Team Cyclocross bikes keep making an "A+" grade of racing at a high level.

As the season goes on the Scott/Ritchey/Sram Team riders will keep applying the most pressure possible to ride their best and test themselves and the equipment fully.

Next stop, CCCX #4 and the NCNCA Cup at Manzanita Park in Prunedale.

Surf City Halloween Cyclocross Event

The Velo Bella Surf City Cyclocross Event October 28, 2007. It is a Cyclocross race, and a Cyclocross party. All of Northern California's Cyclocross fanatics take part in the competitions and the fun.

The Scott/Ritchey/Sram squad were throwing down a little "Trick Or Treat" during their races. The Scott Cyclocross Team Bikes are far and away the most Trick set ups on circuit, and they are Treated out with Ritchey and Sram components making for the ultimate set up for Cyclocross.

The Scott/Ritchey/Sram Team put the bikes to the challenge of a demanding course, and came away with fine rides on a very difficult track.

Next stop the 3rd race of the Bay Area Super Prestige Series on Nov. 4th.

The Scott/Ritchey/Sram racing unit will ride to hold down its high ranking in this popular series.

The Bay Area Super Prestige events are excellent testing grounds for the SCOTT/RITCHEY/SRAM equipment.

After 2 of the events for 2007 it is SCOTT/RITCHEY/SRAM Team rider Jesse Mayberry who is testing the top placings of the Elite Men's division.
